About Ostra Consult

When OSTRA decided to step into the educational space 24 years ago, its major goal was to be at the forefront of providing quality education and impacting educators. Having done this with tremendous results over the years and with this goal still at the forefront of all that OSTRA schools stand for, OSTRA Consult was birthed to support schools, enlighten educators and position parents for the realities and expectations of the fast evolving trends in education. To achieve these objectives, continuous professional development is required and our facilitators, who have attended a wide range of local and international trainings, bring together their wealth of knowledge and experience to bear. Helping the participants understand the issues they face and working out their own solution, sets us apart.
Our services range from one day short courses to workshops and training sessions, OSTRA Consult offers a wide range of professional development topics that cut across the Early Years through to KS 3. Some of which include: Cooperative and Collaborative Learning, Flipped Classroom, Effective Strategies on Early Childhood Instruction, Teachers as Mentors, Effective Classroom Instruction and Management, Higher Order Thinking Skills. We can also design a customized professional development plan for your school, after a training-needs analysis has been done.

Inclusive Education

Around the world, children are excluded from schools where they belong because of disability, race, language, religion, gender, and poverty. Ostra Consults facilitator Dr (Mrs) Joan Anokwuru brought to the seminar an eye opening topic, Inclusive Education, which brings a solution to the issue raised above. To make inclusive education a reality we need to ensure that educators have the training, flexibility, and resources to teach students with diverse needs and learning styles and lots more.

There’s been a lot of early childhood education (ECE) research over the years. By now we know that children learn differently, so it makes sense that there would be numerous education theories and methods teachers can employ in their classrooms. One popular way of educating is the Montessori Method. Our last seminar, had Educators around the nation eagerly taking steps to learn and get involed in child-led activities which is the whole idea behind the Montessori teaching and learning method and because we are abreast, we incorporate the 21st century skills using the 4 Cs' in Education ( Communication, Collaboration, Creative thinking and Creativity) and by so doing preparing educators, parents and schools in building a total child.

Classroom decoration is often overlooked. From Preschool to HighSchool, students need an environment that is comfortable and adaptable to their changing needs. When children and students spend 6+ hours of their day in dull and uncomfortable environments, it doesn’t make for the most inspired individuals. In order to achieve high levels of students' engagement, the environment should be ergonomically and thoughtfully designed. Our facillitators and participants had an awesome time getting busy with their hands in preparation to give their classrooms that WOW! look and of course colorful and attractive environment that can enhance learning . A lot of these do appeal to children.

Now this question totally threw those in attendance off guard and am sure you may feel same reading this now.
